
Women's Tennis Takes Down Temple

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team topped the Temple Owls, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon on the University of Richmond campus, earning its fourth-straight win and its eighth win in the last nine matches. The Spiders improve to 9-6 on the year with the win.
The Spiders started off with singles' action where they swept all matches except the No. 1 position. Beatrice Grasu fell at the No. 1 spot to Temple's Yuri Kurashimi (7-5, 7-5) and the remaining Spiders followed with wins to give the Spiders a 5-1 advantage in singles play. Robin Carter earned a victory (6-2, 6-4) over Sharanya Pattabi at the No. 2 position. Xenia Schneider, and Ashlee Vosters followed with victories at the No. 3, 4, and 5 spots, while Jessica Hubbard breezed by her opponent (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6.
Due to inclement weather, the double matches were not finished.
The Spiders will return to action on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. for a match with VCU on the University of Richmond campus.
