PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Richmond women's golf team is in fifth place, just one stroke out of a tie for third after the first round of the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship played Friday at Pinehurst No. 6.
Richmond will begin the second round of the three-round tournament with tee times starting at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.

"We just weren't rewarded for some great shots today," Richmond head coach Leighann Rastede said. "We did make some great shots, but had some bad bounces and bad chips. We're not making excuses, the scores were very high across the board. We're looking forward to another round tomorrow."
Senior Lauren Ritter is tied for seventh after shooting a 10-over-par 81 on the 5,944 course. Senior Lesley Monachino is tied for 11th after shooting an 11-over 82 and freshman Rosario Germino carded an 83 and is tied for 17th.
