Kevin Steenberge Has Pre-Draft Workout With Washington Wizards

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kevin Steenberge, who just graduated from the University of Richmond after four years playing for the Spider men's basketball team, had a pre-draft try out with the NBA's Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
Steenberge was invited to take part in Day 2 of the Wizards' pre-draft workouts at the Verizon Center. He was one of six players to workout on Wednesday. The 2006 NBA Draft will be held June 28 and the Wizards have the 18th and 48th picks.
The 6-foot-11, 240-pound center from Columbia, Md. was second on the Spiders in scoring as a senior in 2005-06, averaging 10.2 points per game. He led the team in rebounding (4.6 rpg) and blocks (2.4 bpg).
Steenberge, who led Richmond in scoring (12.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg) as a junior, finished his career averaging 7.5 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per outing. He scored 903 points and grabbed 514 rebounds in his career.
Steenberge finished his career second on Richmond's all-time list with 154 blocks, while his 71 blocks in 2005-06 rank third on the school's single-season list. The 2004-05 second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection finished his career shooting 52.5 percent from the field.
