The Richmond women's golf team will return to action this weekend at the Penn State Lady Lion Invitational, to be held Friday through Sunday at Penn State's Blue Course.
It is a homecoming of sorts for Richmond second-year head coach Leighann Rastede Albaugh, who was an assistant coach at Penn State for two years before coming to Richmond.
The 54-hole tournament will be the Spiders' second of the 2006-07 season. In Richmond's first tournament of the year, the Spiders finished 16th among the toughest field they will face all year.
Richmond did finish ahead of defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Georgia State. The Spiders had placed third behind Georgia State and North Carolina-Wilmington at the 2006 CAA Championship.
The Spiders had three freshmen and a sophomore in the lineup for the season-opening tournament and were led by freshman Victoria Kidder.
Richmond will play again next weekend play in the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, before hosting the Spider Fall Invitational, Oct. 16-17.
