WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Richmond women's soccer team lost to American 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Reeves Field.
American's Jana Lee scored two goals in the first half, after Lindsey Miller gave the Eagles a lead just three minutes into the game.
The Eagles (5-3-1) didn't need much time to score as Kelly McLaughlin headed the ball to Millers feet, and Miller deposited the ball to the lower left corner of the goal.
Lee took over from there, beating a defender at the top of the box and shooting the ball past the outstretched goalie into the right corner for American's second goal in the 36th minute. Just eight minutes later, Lee outran the defense on a counter-attack through ball from Katelynn Donovan, and beat the keeper.
This was the last non-conference game of the season for the Spiders (0-7-2). Richmond will return home to kick-off Atlantic 10 action, hosting Saint Joseph's next Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Temple on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
