Women's Soccer Kicks Off A-10 Action; Hosts Saint Joseph's On Friday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's soccer team is kicking off Atlantic 10 action this weekend as it plays host to the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Friday night and the Temple Owls on Sunday afternoon. Kick off is set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at First Market Stadium.
The Spiders just rounded out their non-conference slate on Friday with a 3-0 loss at American and an 0-7-2 mark. Kristen Stalter and Julia Bizer currently lead the Spiders in scoring with two goals apiece on the season.
The Hawks concluded their non-conference schedule on Sat. with a 2-1 win over Marist in the final 11 seconds. Saint Joseph's (3-6-0) is led by Ali Wean with six goals and two assists for a total of 14 points on the season.
The Spiders own a 3-1 advantage in the Richmond-Saint Joseph's series with the Hawks winning the last meeting between the two teams. Although the Hawks took a 3-1 win over the Spiders in Philly in 2004; prior to that victory, the Hawks had never scored on the Spiders.
The Owls also ended their non-conference slate with a 3-6-0 record after a 2-1 loss to Monmouth on Sunday. Led by Kersha Walker with one goal and three assists, the Owls have won two of their last three games.
The Spiders dominate the Richmond-Temple series as well, with a clean 4-0 sweep and allowing just one goal against. The two teams last met in 2004 in Philadelphia where the Spiders shut out the Owls 2-0 for the second straight year.
