UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Tonight's Richmond women's soccer game against cross-city rival Virginia Commonwealth at 7:00 p.m. has been moved to UR Stadium.
The Spiders (0-2-0) opened their season this past weekend at the JMU/Comfort Inn Invitational with a 3-0 loss to 18th-ranked West Virginia and a 2-1 heartbreaking loss to Rutgers in the final 44 seconds of play.
Sophomore Julia Bizer leads all Spiders after scoring their lone goal of the tournament and getting selected to the All-Tournament Team. Junior Christine Wrublesky joined Bizer on the All-Tournament Team as well for her aggressive play in the midfield.
The Rams are 1-1-1 after opening their season at the Florida Atlantic Tournament last weekend, when they took a 3-1 victory over Stetson and played to a 1-1 tie in double overtime with Florida Atlantic before dropping 4-0 at No. 6 Virginia on Wednesday.
Richmond leads the Spiders-Rams series 6-3-1 and has won two of the last three meetings. VCU defeated the Spiders last season after Pernilla Jansson found the back of the net twice to give the Rams a 2-0 victory over Richmond.
Following Sunday's contest, the Spiders will resume action on Tuesday, September 5 when they will make up the August 31 scheduled match with the James Madison Dukes at 7:00 p.m. at First Market Stadium. Live coverage for both games will be available at www.RichmondSpiders.com.
