Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game: "They were the more aggressive team. The game was up for grabs in the first half and we didn't seize it like I thought we should have when we had opportunities. In the second half (Charlotte was) the aggressor."
On Richmond Trailing By Two At The Half:
"We're just trying to get them to understand they're right there, down two at the half and we didn't even play great or shoot great. (Charlotte) came out and played very aggressively in the second half."
On Charlotte Taking Over In The Second Half:
"They were pretty consistent throughout. They played the game at their pace and got the guys that they wanted to get the ball. They made a lot of 3-point shots as they do, and really just controlled the game. From our standpoint, that's frustrating. The first half was up for grabs and the second half they went out and dictated the game. It was difficult for us to recover."
On De'Angelo Alexander:
"(De'Angelo) Alexander is a great player, but there were times when we didn't find him, which is very frustrating."
On Richmond's Lack Of Rebounding:
"We got beat on the boards pretty badly after really holding our own the last few games, and that's usually an indication of how hard you are playing and how much energy you are bringing to the game."
On The Positives:
"We've been talking about trying to get to the free line more and we got 25 attempts, so that's good. We had nine steals, which is good to see. We don't expect to shoot 4-for-18 from 3, part of that is because of Charlotte, but in your own gym you hope to come out and give a better showing."
On Playing George Washington Wednesday:
"We have another good team coming in here on Wednesday. We just have to keep improving. Tonight was a little bit of a step back."
On The Injured Gaston Moliva:
"Our intention is to apply for a medical redshirt. He is probably only about 70 percent."
Richmond Freshman Dan Geriot
On Being Down Two At The Half:
"We thought we should have been up four or six points instead of down two with a couple key plays and if we finished a couple of missed lay-ups. We thought if we kept our pace we would start to hit shots and be alright."
On Charlotte:
"They're really methodical, they get what they want, they got what they wanted. Our defense was a little worse in the second half. It was difficult to climb back when they were getting all the shots they wanted."
On Whether Richmond Was Fatigued:
"I'm not sure if we were fatigued, I don't think we felt fatigued. Our energy kind of got down because of the way they play. They try to bang like most of the teams in the A-10. We have to start focusing in and moving hard on offense all the time because they had trouble guarding us at times."
On Richmond's 3-Point Shooting:
"We shot 4-of-18 from 3, if we make a couple more of them we're in the game."
On Trying To Comeback:
"When we were down eight with eight minutes left we were thinking we've been in this situation before, we can come back, just make sure we run our stuff right and play good defense. We missed a couple of shots, and I remember one time when they came down and hit a 3-pointer and then a lay-up. Those little 5-0 runs ended up killing us in the end."
On What He Did Against Charlotte's Defense:
"Mostly everyone was off shooting, so Charlotte came out and guarded even further and picked the pressure up. There were some holes that I was able to attack at times."
On Playing George Washington Wednesday:
"They're a very good team. We have to come ready to practice, we have to attack practice Monday and Tuesday and make sure we're improving in practice and it will all show up in the games."
Richmond Freshman Brian Morris
On The Game:
"I think in the first half we were tight and were able to stay in the zone and occupy our spaces. We picked up cutters and were able to switch on ball-screens. In the first half we also did a good job keeping them in front of us. In the second half we got spread out in the zone and started picking guys up further out. We still have to play to our strengths."
Charlotte Head Coach Bobby Lutz
On Playing Against Richmond's Defense:
"We were more worried about their defense than about their offense. We spent time on their offense, but a majority of our practices were toward their defense. Our defensive scheme was very simple against them. They are really good and hard to guard, but instead of over-emphasizing it or making our guys over think - we tried to keep it really simple. Most of our practices were geared towards our offense. When we didn't turn it over we got unbelievable shots every possession whether it was a three or inside."
On Having A Week To Prepare:
"It was helpful for us to have a week to prepare - mainly because we haven't been healthy. We have been so hurt and sick that it has been very frustrating. We still haven't had everybody in practice for five weeks. At least we got a little closer this week and the week off helped also. The fact (Richmond) had to play Wednesday was obviously an advantage for us."
On Playing Against Richmond's Offense:
"We talked about having great poise. (Richmond is) very good at what they do. If you lose your poise or get frustrated then that is when they capitalize. Maybe that is why we turned it over so much in the first half. We can talk about it all you want, but when guys are on the floor - in the heat of the moment - sometimes guys make mistakes. I am just really pleased with the way we played in the second half. I hope this goes a long way to restoring our confidence."
Charlotte's Carlos Williams
On The Game:
"Coach told us to go out there and put pressure on them and they would bend. Our offense would just follow. I think we were just having fun in the second half. Going into halftime with a two-point lead is pressure."
On Defending The Richmond Offense:
"You really can't explain what it is like. We worked hard on it for an entire week of practice. We were mentally ready for it. Coach warned us about whoever gets beat on a backdoor was not going to play so we were focused. There weren't any backdoors today."
