Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On What He Said At Halftime:
"I told them that I wasn't embarrassed and they shouldn't be either. It would be one thing if we were hanging our heads and turning it over repeatedly, then it would have been embarrassing. We just weren't making shots. We missed five lay-ups, four or five wide-open 3s, we didn't convert some fast-break opportunities, we missed everything. I told them they had to go out in the second half and just play as hard as possible."
On The First Half:
"These are the kind of bumps that you take with a young team and this is where it showed up, at UD Arena which is a tough place to play anyway. While it's unfortunate, I don't think it's embarrassing."
On Richmond's Shooting:
"We shot 3-for-19 from 3, we had open shots. We changed the schedule to come over and shoot around this morning, get used to arena and balls. We just didn't make shots."
On Richmond's Effort
"I thought we hung in there and played as hard as possible. They shot great. That's a tough thing when you don't shoot well and the other team shoots great."
On Richmond's Ryan Butler
"We told Ryan earlier in the season, maybe we put a little too much pressure on him. He's a freshman, he hardly practiced last year and he played in two games. We've tried to take some of the pressure off of him. A couple of those defensive rebounds got in there he was way above anybody. Nobody is a bigger fan of him than I am. I think I can see the finished product a bit more than he can."
On Getting A Season-High 12 Steals
"Stealing the ball is important. We play mostly half-court defense and we try to play the ball hard. To make up for some of our physical shortcomings and our rebounding disadvantage, we need to come up with steals and grab loose balls."
Richmond Red-Shirt Freshman Ryan Butler
On Getting Over The First Half
"We had to forget about the first half and worry about the second half. We played well in the second half, it was back and forth, but it's good to see that we can definitely play with them."
On Being Consistent
"The hardest thing for me has been learning to play hard everyday. I have to be consistent enough to play hard every game and every practice."
Dayton Head Coach Brian Gregory
On The Game
"Overall I am very pleased with our effort and the execution of our offense and defense. I was concerned coming into this game because you have to keep your concentration as a team after a game like ours last Wednesday."
On Dayton's Defense
"I thought our defensive pressure early on was key. We did a good job of getting them off their rhythm. We've done a better job on the glass in the last two weeks. When you play a team like Richmond you have to play one-on-one style and our guys did a good job of that style of play today."
Dayton Forward Jimmy Binnie
On Richmond's First-Half Shooting
"That was a little shocking. They missed a lot of easy buckets there and it could have been a closer game. They run that Princeton-type offense and we did a good job of defending, talking and communicating amongst each other out there."
