Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game
"I thought we played well in the first half, made shots, and executed the offense very well. I don't think we were very good on defense for the entire game. They had three very good offensive players that were hard to guard."
On The Second Half
"In the second half I felt that we got a lot of similar shots, but didn't make them. We had some lay-up opportunities. They must have turned the ball over four or five of the first ten possessions and we got up two, but not eight and we couldn't take control of the game. So I think our defense let us down. Our shooting was better, but not great."
On Richmond's Defense
"I think our defense let us down a little bit. You can't lose sight of your man. We did that a few times. Maybe we were just attracted to the ball a little because those guys are such good offensive players."
On Richmond's Offense
"We talked about really trying to attack them. We thought they were not as good a defensive team yet as they are going to be in the future. We thought we would be able to have opportunities at the basket all night, whether it was drives or post moves. We would have probably preferred to go inside a little more."
On The Final Outcome
"I think the score got to be lopsided, but it wasn't that kind of game at all. The foul on Drew goes against us and we were down four at that point, if that goes for us I think we are closer then it appears in a sense. Of course it's a challenge and it's difficult because there is so much youth, inexperience and lack of physicality. I do feel we are competing and have a chance."
Richmond Freshman David Gonzalvez
On Temple's Offense
"They basically just started going one on one and hit some tough shots. I feel that we contested a lot of them pretty well. Some were open and some weren't, but the ones that we contested and they hit were pretty tough."
On Richmond's Defense
"Defensively we just weren't tough enough. Maybe we could have done a better job stopping them one-on-one."
Richmond Freshman Dan Geriot
On Richmond's Offense
"I think at times we got the ball into the post to run our offense. If we get our offense running it's hard to guard."
On Trying To Score Inside
"At times it was glaring that they were undersized. If the ball was in the low post we were supposed to score."
Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy
On The Game
"The score is no indication on the closeness of the game. It was interesting, we were talking about it afterwards - I though Dion had a great look at a jumper in the lane and it just didn't go and then we fouled Geriot. Just unfortunate for him he missed that foul shot, but that could have gotten it from eight down to six if he knocks those two out. And from that point on we seemed pretty solid."
On Richmond's Defense
"Against the match (-up zone) it's hard to run real good set stuff; I think that they do a really good job of matching everyone up"
Temple's Mark Tyndale
On The Game
"We were on a tough stretch, we knew coming into this game this is probably one of the biggest games of the year, we definitely needed this game. I think we had the same record as Richmond, so I knew coming into this game that we had to play hard and we needed a win. We came out and played as hard as we could, and came out with the win. Richmond is a good team, a defensive team, and an offensive team but we had to come out and get the win today."
