Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On Norfolk State's Comeback
"They had switched defenses and they were able to turn up the pressure on us. We did not respond well at all to that pressure. We had turnovers that I think were uncharacteristic and we were not able to stop two of their players."
On The Game
"I thought we had played O.K. in the first half. Even our defense because even though they scored, I thought they made hard shots to score. At the half we talked about regrouping, playing hard and going after the ball. I thought we did those things really until around the three-minute mark."
On Trying To Stop Tony Murphy
"We were just trying to be as aggressive as possible because he is such a good offensive player. A guy like that is kind of fearless, he keeps coming at you and he did. He was able to score some very big baskets."
On Losing An 11-Point Lead Down The Stretch
"We need to finish the game, we need to take care of the ball, defend and rebound, those three things. We certainly turned the ball over too much down the stretch and gave them too many opportunities to come back."
On Whether There Was A Letdown After Memphis
"There shouldn't be, I didn't necessarily sense that, I thought we came out of the gates fast. I think we had a good atmosphere here and we needed to win."
On Whether Inexperience Led To Turnovers Down The Stretch
"Some of it was inexperience, but some is when they turned up the heat we didn't adjust to the pressure that we were feeling. Sure it is a little bit of being inexperienced, but at same time, we need to be able to handle that. Some of them were just sloppy, sloppy passes that we threw almost right to them."
Richmond's Dan Geriot
On The Game
"It's just a bump in the road hopefully. We need to practice a little bit harder. Our last two practices weren't that great on Thursday and Friday. We just got to attack it a lot harder."
On Letting A Double-Digit Lead Slip Away
"We're up seven with under four minutes left and we've got to keep controlling the game. We tried to work some time off the clock and we weren't able to execute anything."
On Whether There Was A Letdown After Memphis
"I don't think there was a letdown, we were high energy, it's just a learning game. When we had the lead we were up. There was no letdown at all, we just couldn't execute down the stretch."
On The Beginning Of The Second Half
"The energy was up, moving the ball around, everybody was getting into it, Then that middle six minutes we need to realize we have to keep going, and the problem was we didn't. If we keep going, we just build it and build it and build it."
Richmond's David Gonzalvez
On The Game
"We had intensity, but we kind of lost it at the end. We can't let up, we let up in the second half. We've got to be smarter with the ball, got to be smarter with the ball, we can't turn the ball over."
On What Richmond Has To Do Going Forward
"We've just got to stay together."
Norfolk State Head Coach Anthony Evans
On Guarding David Gonzalvez Down The Stretch
"We had tremendous respect for him, we had to contain him. He was tired and it just worked in our favor."
