Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game
"We played well for stretches, we got the big lead. We're having trouble closing out games. It's something we've addressed, but need to continue to address. I give Marist a lot of credit. They played Marist basketball, got back in it and were able to win."
On Whether Richmond's Week-Long Road Trip Was To Blame
"I don't think so. I don't think that it did. I thought the energy was good and given that cushion that we had, I thought we had a very good chance to close the game."
On What Marist Did To Comeback
"They turned up the pressure on us, then we had to think about dealing with the pressure and then dealing with running our offense. I sense a little bit of that, don't want to see that obviously, but did sense a little bit of that. I thought we could have been better, didn't go to 17 to tie, it went from 17 to 14 to 12, so there were opportunities there for us to retake control of the game, and we didn't do a good enough job."
On Marist's Second Half Three-Point Shooting
"That was a big key. I don't think they had a three in the first half so we knew they were going to come out and try to establish that in the second. That's a big part of their game, they shoot the ball very well from the from the perimeter. We didn't do a good enough job, a couple of times we got sucked in by the penetration and gave up open threes."
On Dan Geriot
"They doubled him a couple of times. He's such a good players, he's somebody that we like to run our offense through and make sure we can get it in there, because it establishes him and he's a good scorer. I don't know if it was the foul trouble that bothered him as much as the defense being more aware of Dan."
On Richmond's Struggles To Close Out Wins
"We've practiced situations, we've gone over and over and over those. We've talked about it, we've practiced, but we have not proven that we know we can do it. And this was obviously not a step in the right direction."
Richmond's Dan Geriot
On Scoring Most Of His Points In The First Half
"I should have attacked more, I got way too passive in the second half. In the first half, I was aggressive and taking it right to them. The second half I just wasn't able t"o. I was trying to slow it down. I can't do that anymore.
