Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The 2k Sports College Hoops Classic
"We thought that the tournament was a success. We played well against Maine. We defended well and then had an opportunity to play against the third ranked team in the nation and maybe even the best team in the country. I think that we hung in there. We played with some confidence, and we played with grit. We hung in there and played tough. We wish that it could've gone a little bit longer, but I thought that we got a good account of ourselves."
On The Turning Point Of The Game:
"I don't think that we scored enough. Memphis is going to score a lot of points. We stopped them for awhile. We had opportunities to score, but they're going to keep putting up scores on the board. We got a couple of tough breaks; balls blocked. We just stopped scoring."
On Hanging In With the No. 3 Team In The Nation
"I thought we played really well. We're a very confident bunch. I would think that we could compete with very good teams and Memphis is about as good as it gets. I wish we would have been able to hold on a little bit longer. We certainly gave a great effort."
On The Difference Between Monday And Tuesday
"Last night we were so anxious, nervous and excited because it was the first game. Tonight we knew the opponent was going to be great and we just came out and attacked, both on offense and on defense."
On What This Game Means Moving Forward
"We're very exited, we can't wait to get home for Saturday's game and we hope to have a great crowd. I think our guys gained some confidence tonight, and if we can keep improving and keep improving, we can become a good basketball team."
Richmond's David Gonzalvez
On The Game
"This was a good experience for us. We talked before the game about having no regrets and leaving it all out on the floor. I think we did that tonight."
On Scoring A Career-High 25 Points
"I knew we had to be aggressive coming into the game. I knew I had to be aggressive to give us a good chance to win. Things didn't fall our way, but we played hard like we should have."
Richmond's Jarhon Giddings
On The Game
"We were right there all the way until the end. That was a great atmosphere playing against a top-5 team in the country. We're happy that we played them tough, that's a good marker for the rest of the season. We got to measure up with some of the top talent in the nation."
On Memphis
"They're talent level was incredible, but we feel like we are talented too. We were hanging right with them, we weren't star struck or anything like that. We played hard. No matter who is on the court, we're always going to compete."
Richmond's Kevin Anderson
On The Game
"We came out pretty strong and then at the end, I don't want to say we fell off, but we really didn't get a great run to finish it off. We've just got to finish the game strong."
On The Change From Monday Against Maine
"Last night, I'm not sure if it was because it was the first game, but we were just too jittery. Tonight, although the pressure was on us the whole game, we seemed more relaxed."
Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
On Richmond
"They played well. We knew they would. There were some comments in their paper where they had players saying, `All summer we've been waiting on this game. Every weight room, every run, has been driving us is this game'. What I said to our team was that this is every team we are going to play."
On Making A Halftime Adjustment
"So they come out with a zone, and we're tentative. I'm at a loss for words. It was my fault in that first half because we didn't post it. I came out in the second half and said we are throwing it in every chance we can. Enough of this. That's not them. They are just learning to play against zone. I had to give them a little more direction."
On Richmond's David Gonzalvez
"I took out Willie (Kemp), and I knew Willie was playing well. And I said Willie you're not shutting out (Gonzalvez). The kid scored a basket off two of you."
