Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On Shooting 28 Three-Pointers
"It depends on the threes, there were eight to nine that I think we could have gotten better shots in the first half against the zone. You might still end up with a three-point shot, but I think maybe pass a couple of those."
On Richmond's Shooting
"We haven't shot as well as I think we're capable of. We shot pretty well versus William & Mary, but to shoot 8-of-28, I really think we're a better shooting team than that. That's not going to be good enough to win. If you're going to take that many you are going to have to shoot a higher percentage. We need to shoot better and maybe shooting better is taking better shots."
On USF's Guards
"They have big guards who are strong. They can score, they play at a very confident, kind of calm, easy pace and they kind of lull you into that . Then they have the ability to score. They made some difficult shots, I thought, during the course of the night."
On Kevin Anderson
"Kevin is a good player, he has the opportunity to open things up for us. He can create things for both himself and other people."
Richmond's Dan Geriot
On The Second Half Drought
"The drought in the second half was tough, they hit the boards hard and we weren't rebounding well. I don't know if that really took a toll on us, but things just didn't go as well offensively as we thought."
On Richmond's Shooting
"If we made more shots - step in threes have to be hit - it really comes down to just being tough enough to make a shot."
On Richmond's Rebounding
"I missed three, four rebounds, five rebounds. They were right in my hands. I've got to grab them, I've got to be tougher and grab those. That was the problem, I can't keep doing that. I've got to get tough enough to make those plays. Then in the beginning of the second half they wouldn't keep trying to come at us."
On Richmond Freshmen Kevin Anderson And Justin Harper
"Their energy's great. Things are looking great for them, they're playing well. Really we just need a little bit more, we need a little bit more out of all of us and things will start to turn up."
On Richmond's Second Half Struggles
"The first half of every game we're up. Then in the second half we have too many droughts. We've got to realize that when it happens we've got to stop it, or not have it happen at all."
USF Head Coach Stan Heath
On The Game
"That's a hard fought win. We weren't really finishing and doing the things that we wanted to do in the first half the tempo was totally in their control in the first half. To come in the locker room down two wasn't horrible for us. In the second half we tried to be more aggressive and get the tempo going more in our favor."
On The Defense
"Our defense was huge in the second half. I just thought we had some stretches there where we were able to get stops, rebounds and run. I thought once we got things going in our favor, we got the lead and then we did the job, getting to the free throw line, controlling the basketball and getting the ball to the right guys at the right time."
On Kentrell Gransberry Getting In Foul Trouble
"It certainly was a recipe for a loss, on the road and Kentrell's out of the game, but we've got a freshman (Dominique Jones) who's starting to play at a pretty high level. He's making some big plays for us, the guys are comfortable with finding him and getting him open. It's allowing him to play with that kind of confidence and that's a good sign."
USF's Dominique Jones
On Scoring 30 Points
"I just think I let the game come to me and then it was time to take over and do my thing, and that's what I do best. But I thought the best thing was just letting the game come to me."
On Imposing His Will On The Game
"I feel like that all the time. Just like my mom said, `if I feel like I can do anything on the court, then that's what I'll do. Coach is doing a good job of getting my mind to that level."
On Kentrell Gransberry Getting In Foul Trouble
"We're a team, and he's a big part of our team, but when one person gets down, everybody else picks him up. So everybody else started crashing the boards with him out of there."
On Being Down At The Half
"I just feel that going into halftime, we were down by two, but we just had to be more aggressive. In the second half it was about playing good defense, getting steals and finishing in transition. That's a big part of us taking a big lead like this."
