Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On VCU's Eric Maynor
"Eric controlled the game, that's something we were afraid of. We wanted to try to not let Eric control the game, but he's a good ball handler. It's hard, they rely on him and look for him to reset things when the shot clock is running down."
On Richmond's Shooting
"You're not going to win games when you shoot 29 percent. We had the opportunities to make shots and we did not take advantage of them in the second half."
On VCU's Pressure
"We handled it well in the first half, not too many teams are going to have only two turnovers at the half against VCU. The pressure comes in waves, they're not going to be stealing it every time, but it kind of gets to you over time. We were pleased the way we were handling the pressure, but then in the second half they picked us a couple of times. We had too many in the second half."
On Richmond's Second Half Struggles
"We have not been very good in the second half. I can't put my finger on it, but we've been working on it and we're going to continue to try to figure it out. I think part of it is obviously our youth."
On Dan Geriot And David Gonzalvez
"We talk about it as a staff, that we lose sight that they are in the 10th game of their sophomores years and there is so much on them. Maybe if they had normal freshmen years and were not asked to do so much this year, you would see more positives showing up. They are in only the 10th game of their sophomore years, they are still young."
On Kevin Anderson
"For him to play 38 minutes in this environment is good. He's a good player and does a lot of great things for us, but he still has to keeping improving."
