Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On Richmond Starting Slow
"It was our approach, we had so much fight in us in the second half for these last 12 minutes, and with the defense, the guys diving around guys trying to do as much as they can. That is when shots are going to fall. We talked about after the game that it's got to be that you attack the game from the beginning, whether that means how hard you cut on offense, what you are doing on defense. How you are defending, how active you are all of those things they really need to show up because you can't get in that much of a hole."
On Richmond Finishing The Game Strong
"I was very happy with how much fight there was, guys playing a lot of minutes who were diving around trying to get us back in there. Then shots did start to fall. We came down with a chance to get it to seven, but again, it was just too big of a hole to dig for us. It's disappointing because if we had that from the beginning I think it would have been a very competitive game."
On Richmond Players Keeping Their Heads Up
"It's a difficult thing to manage, some of our young guys get a little bit too down on themselves and maybe get too concerned about the next play after they make a play that's either a turnover or a missed shot. It's not often that you're going to be at your very best all the time and those are the games that you need to still play well. That's part of the learning process and it's especially not going to happen easily on the road, especially against a good team. It's something that needs to be stressed and improved for us to get better."
On Keeping The Turnovers Down Once Again
"We did take care of the ball, thought that was good. I thought we were able to get good movement on offense."
On Richmond's 3-Point Shooting
"They're a team, like when we played them last year, that was going to give us open 3-point shots. Unfortunately you need to make those or you get into a difficult mode where that's what they're giving you and you're pressing a little bit and it's harder and harder to make them. We had some wide-open opportunities early that if we make, I think it's a much, much different game. Then they have to figure out what to do with Vouyoukas and we're maybe taking a little bit advantage of him on the perimeter. But when you don't make them, they have opportunities coming down in transition."
On Saint Louis Guard Kevin Lisch
"He's a good player, their guards are tough, they try you out, then they get the ball back and try you out again. They're tough on defense and they play with a very mature and attacking mentality, which is what a good player does. (Lisch) was difficult to defend tonight and he got to the foul line as well."
On Saturday's Game That Could Get The Spiders In The A-10 Tourney
"We're looking forward to it. I know we are going to come out and have a good practice tomorrow, have a fired up practice on Friday and really try to work ourselves into that Atlantic 10 Tournament."
Richmond Freshmen Dan Geriot
On Richmond Not Coming Out Aggressive
"We didn't come out with the same aggressiveness that we needed to. The last 12 minutes was great because that showed us that we could play with them. To come out the way we did, it wasn't really acceptable and put us behind by so much. Then we had all the urgency in the end when we should have been trying to burn the clock out with a win."
On Finishing The Year Strong
"The coaches have been preaching all season about moving hard, but during the middle of the season I kind of got in a slump where it was kind of hard. I've been doing some extra things, really helped my confidence. It's helped me mentally and helped me get around some of the centers in our league. It helps in the low post, especially on offense. I'm constantly moving, constantly moving and the center usually loses me."
On Keeping Himself Out Of Foul Trouble
"I'm avoiding the backcourt fouls, just running back on defense. Sometimes I get called for some holds in the low post, so I'm trying to work on that."
On Richmond Keeping It's Turnovers Down
"I think it's part of getting the offense more and also we're realizing the pressure is more in the first 15 seconds and then they don't guard us as much."
On Saturday's Game For A Spot In The A-10 Tournament
"We're looking forward to Saturday. We still think that we can be in the tournament."
Saint Louis Head Coach Brad Soderberg
On Facing Richmond's Defense
"It's especially tough to play against them, it's tough to X and O against their defense. We put in the `just play' offense tonight. That's what we did, just played. We told them we wanted to get the ball moved quickly around the perimeter and get it into Vouyoukas, but then where they wanted to go was up to them."
On Making 3-Point Shots
"When we make 3-point shots it makes things a lot easier. Kevin made some tonight and that really helped us get out to a lead."
On Kevin Lisch, Tommie Liddell and Ian Vouyoukas
"I've been saying the key down the stretch here is getting our `big 3' to all being playing well together. They did tonight. When those three play well we are a pretty good team."
