WALLACE, N.C. - The Richmond women's golf team is in 11th place out of 15 teams after 36 holes of the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational, played Monday at the par-72 River Landing Country Club.
The Spiders shot a 317 in each round for a 634, which is two strokes behind 10th-place Charleston Southern. The third and final round of the 54-hole tournament will be played on Tuesday.
"I couldn't be prouder of my girls, I think our two rounds absolutely exemplify what team golf is all about, when you can count on the four or five players," Richmond head coach Leighann Albaugh said. "The two girls who were playing No. 4 and No. 5 in the second round really helped us and carried the team. That's really the ideal, where you can have anyone can be No. 1 at any time."
Freshman Victoria Kidder leads the Spiders through two rounds at 155. She carded a 78 in the morning round and a 77 in the afternoon to sit in a tie for 29th.
"I'm really proud of Victoria, she's really coming into her own in her second semester here," Albaugh said. "She's doing great things for the team. She's kind of our rock on the golf course, with her work ethic and obviously in tournament play."
Sophomore Rosario Germino is tied for 46th at 158 after carding rounds of 77 and 81. Senior Ashley Lambert shot a 161 (78-83) and is tied for 59th. Junior Alex Latimer is tied for 64th with a 163 (84-79) and freshman Anne Sprick is in 68th with a 165 (85-80).
Prepared well in practice round, studied great notes, and it showed with two great rounds.
