Richmond took three of the four weekly Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field awards with sophomore Jessica Young earning Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors, while Jessica Young each were named Rookie of the Week.
Young broke a new school record in the 100-meter dash at the Fred Hardy Invitational, giving her a sweep of the Spider outdoor sprinting school records (100, 200, 300, 400). She ran the 100 in a time of 11.70 to win the event, set the meet record and the Fred Hardy Track facility record, along with provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.
Young, who was a NCAA Indoor All-American indoors in the 60-meter dash earlier this month, also won the 200 dash in 24.26 seconds. She ran a 53-second split as the lead leg of Richmond's 4x400 relay team that set the school record in 3:49.90.
Crawford is Richmond's second-straight Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week, joining teammate Heather Roush, who won the award last week. Crawford, a freshman from Staunton, Va., broke the school record in the shot put with a throw of 46-feet-7 1/2 to win the event.
Benford, a freshman from Ravenswood, W.V. who was the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Rookie of the Year last fall, won the 3,000 at the Fred Hardy Invitational in 8:38.84.
