Lambert Is Leader In The Clubhouse; Spiders In Fifth At Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - Senior Ashley Lambert is the leader in the clubhouse and the Spiders are tied for fifth out of 17 teams after the first round of the Pinehurst Challenge held Monday at Pinehurst No. 8.
Lambert shot a 1-over-par 73 in the first round, carding an even-par 36 on the front nine and a 1-over 37 on the back of the 5,978-yard course. She had the lead by two strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but due to frost in the morning, only one round was played Monday.
The Spiders are tied for fifth with Coastal Carolina at 316, three strokes behind fourth-place Campbell (313) and four shots behind third-place North Carolina State (312). East Carolina is in first at 308 and the host College of Charleston is in second at 310.
Richmond freshman Victoria Kidder is tied for 19th at 79 (40-39), while freshman Lauren Folgosa is tied for 33rd with an 80 (41-39). Junior Alex Latimer is tied for 63rd with 84 (43-41) and sophomore Rosario Germino is tied for 78th with an 87 (43-44).
