Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game
"Certainly I'm very proud of how we played, I thought we played very, very well, with a lot of energy, a lot of heart. I couldn't be prouder of how we played. Digging in, getting stops on defense, a key turnover on the press, things that we were doing on offense. I thought our guys played very, very well. Unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of the score, but I thought we did just about everything we could to hang in there and play well."
On Richmond's Freshman
"I think all of our freshmen are good players and they really improved during the course of the season, even during some rough patches for us. They've improved, they gained a greater understanding of college basketball and they're good players."
On Dan Geriot and David Gonzalvez
"Those two guys played terrific today obviously. Brian Morris, another freshman, I thought was good."
Looking Toward The Future
"We lose one senior, Peter Thomas. Gaston Moliva, who has been injured comes back so I think there's a lot for us to build on. Of course it's more difficult to see today after a tough loss, but we can build this into a good program."
Richmond Freshman Dan Geriot
On His Play
"In the first half I wasn't moving as hard and didn't realize some of the opportunities I would have had. Once I started moving harder there were a lot of openings and a lot of gaps and I was able to put up shots I've made thousands of times."
On The Future
"We had to play our way into the tournament and then we felt we would be right there with (Fordham) and we were. In the off-season we'll work hard and this feeling, we'll never forget it, and next year hopefully come in as a five-seed or higher."
Richmond Freshman David Gonzalvez
"I think I should have gone to the middle. When I went baseline, I should have looked to pass. Instead, I threw up a bad shot."
Richmond Freshman Brian Morris
"I think the way we finished will carry us into the off-season. It will make us see how good we could become, the plays we can make. We're not going to forget about this loss. It's going to motivate us to work even harder."
Fordham Head Coach Dereck Whittenburg
On Richmond
"I really have to congratulate Richmond for the way they fought their way into the tournament and for how they played today. They have a young, gutsy team who we knew would give us a tough game. Luckily, Marcus Stout and Bryant Dunston stepped up for us and made some big plays."
Fordham's Marcus Stout
On His Game-Winning Three-Point Play
"Coach drew up a good play. We wanted to swing it around and get it into the post. And if we couldn't do that, we were to look for a drive to the basket. We swung it around a few times, and I came up to the top of the key. I saw an opening, and knew I could get to the basket. I drove, (Brian Morris) fouled me, I kept my focus on the rim and it happened to go in. And I made the free throw."
