HOT SPRINGS, Va. - The Richmond women's golf opens its quest for the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Golf Championship on Friday at The Homestead.
The 54-hole tournament will start Friday with the Spiders teeing off beginning at 11:21 a.m. The 10-team tournament will be played on the par-72 6,000-yard Old Course at The Homestand, also site of the 2005 CAA Championship.
Richmond will be looking to improve on their third-place finish last year. This is the Spiders' fifth CAA Championship and they have finished no worse than fourth. Richmond was the runner-up in 2004.
The Spiders are led by senior Ashley Lambert who finished 17th at last year's CAA Championship. Lambert leads Richmond with a 79.62 stroke average and earned second-team all-conference honors last spring. She finished seventh at the 2005 CAA Championship.
Sophomore Rosario Germino is playing in the No. 2 spot for the Spiders. Germino finished 18th at last year's conference championship.
The remaining three players for Richmond are freshmen making their CAA Championship debuts. Victoria Kidder is playing as the Spiders' No. 3, while Lauren Folgosa is No. 4 and Anne Sprick is No. 5.
