HOT SPRINGS, Va. - Senior Ashley Lambert shot a 4-over-76 to pull into a tie for fifth after two rounds of the 2007 CAA Women's Golf Championship played at the Homestead's Old Course.
Lambert, who finished seventh two years ago in the CAA Championship on the same course, is at 9-over-par 153 (77-76) entering Sunday's third and final round. She is four strokes off the lead, two strokes out of third place and one stroke out of second.
Richmond is tied for third with Xavier in the 10-team tournament at 53-over-par 629 (314-315). UNC-Wilmington has the tournament lead, but Richmond is within four strokes of second-place Georgia State.
Freshman Victoria Kidder shot a 77 for the second-straight day on the par-72, 6,000-yard Old Course. Kidder is tied for seventh with a 10-over 154, one stroke behind Lambert. Freshman Lauren Folgosa, who had the lead after the first round Friday, carded an 80 Saturday and sits in a tie for ninth with a 155.
"Our top three continue to play steady and the other two made improvements today," Richmond head coach Leighann Rastede Albaugh said. "We're looking to finish strong tomorrow."
Freshman Anne Sprick is in 33rd place with a 167 (85-82) and sophomore Rosario Germino is tied for 34th with a 168 (86-82).
The Spiders are looking to improve on their third-place finish last year. Richmond's best finish in their previous four CAA Championships is finishing second in 2004.
