GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Three members of the Richmond women's track & field team will compete at the 2007 NCAA East Regional on Friday and Saturday at the University of Florida.
Senior Beth Crocus, sophomore Jessica Young and freshman Kristen Crawford will compete at the Regionals, looking for a top-5 finish in their events to earn a spot at the NCAA National Championships, June 6-9 in Sacramento, Calif.
"Without question this is the most important meet of the year, it's the meet that gets these athletes to the NCAA Championships," Richmond women's coach Lori Taylor said. "We're looking forward to it, all three athletes are ready to go. Kristen had been nursing a shoulder injury, but she fine, and both Beth and Jessica are fine. Now it's just a matter of keeping their nerves under control, getting out there and performing."
Crocus will compete in the javelin on Friday at 3 p.m. and the hammer on Saturday at noon.
Young qualified for the Regionals in both the 100-meter dash and the 400 dash, but will only take part in the 400. The preliminaries are Friday at 5:50 p.m.
Crawford will be making an appearance at the Regional as a freshman, competing in the shot put on Friday at 6 p.m.
