UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Victoria Kidder qualified for the U.S. Pub Links Championship and sophomore Lauren Folgosa qualified for Georgia Top-60 Women's Classic.
"We're off to a good start to the summer," Richmond coach Leighann Rastede Albaugh said. "This experience will help them come back tournament tough for the fall."
Kidder shot a 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday at Crumpin Fox Golf Club in Bernardston, Mass. to earn a spot in the U.S. Public Links USGA Women's Championship on June 18th at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky.
"That was the first time since coming back from the conference championships that my swing has really been there," Kidder said. "I putted well, had four birdies and struck the ball well. It was a great experience."
Folgosa tied for seventh out of over 130 golfers at the Greater Atlanta Women's Championship, May 22-24 at White Columns Country Club in Alpharetta, Ga. She was in the championship flight and shot 82-74-77 to qualify for the Georgia Top-60 Women's Classic at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evan, Ga. on June 28-29.
"I was hitting the ball great and really happy with my first tournament of the summer," Folgosa said. "I'm looking forward to the Top-60 Women's Classic. Hopefully I can do even better."
