
Women's Golf Announces Addition Of Three Incoming Freshmen

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond women's golf coach Leighann Albaugh announced the addition of three student-athletes, who will join the program this fall.Jillian Fraccola of Manlius, N.Y., Christina Gray of Tampa, Fla. and Sarah Gehrke of Bend, Ore. will be freshmen in the fall of 2007.
"The three of them had great success at their prospective state high school levels this past year," Albaugh said. "Christina and Jillian have great national tournament experience and Sarah brings great leadership qualities to the team. All three have a passion for the game and I look for each of them to work hard and be valuable assets to the team, both on and off the course."

Fraccola was a four-year letterwinner and team captain as a senior at Fayetteville-Manlius High for coach Anne Miller, where she won the New York Public School Championship as a senior in 2007. She also won the New York Public School Section Tournament as a senior, after finishing fourth as a junior. Fraccola finished third at the Public School State Championship as a junior.
The high honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society earned First-Team All-Onondaga League as both a junior and senior and her team won the Onondagae League title in 2007 with a 17-0 record, along with taking first in the sectionals.
Gray was a four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain at Tampa Preparatory School for coach Richard Veghte. She was a four-time all-county selection and 2005 regional champion. Gray won the district championship in 2006 and tied for district medalist honors as a senior. As a sophomore and junior she was named the St. Petersburg Times Player of the Year. Placed in the top-10 at the Florida state finals three times, tying for fifth in the state finals in 2006, tying for ninth in 2005 and tying for sixth in 2004.

The member of the National Honor Society helped her team to the 2004, 2005 and 2006 district titles and regional runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2005.
Gehrke was a four-year letterwinner at Summit High, where she placed fourth at the Oregon State Championships as a senior in 2007. She finished in the top-10 in the Intermountain Conference as a junior and senior and helped her team to a pair of state championships and three district titles.

"All three are great kids who I am looking forward to coaching over the next four years," Albaugh said. "It will be fun to watch them achieve their goals and become the young women that they aspire to be."
Playing three freshmen, one sophomore and just one senior, the Richmond women's golf team finished fourth at the 2007 CAA Championships.
