Spiders To Open 2k Sports College Hoops Classic In Memphis

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's basketball team will open play in the 2k Sports College Hoops Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at Memphis on Nov. 5 and 6. The four teams in the Memphis bracket are the host Tigers, Maine and Tennessee-Martin, with the pairings to be announced shortly.
Games will be played at the 18,500-seat FedExForum, which enters its third year as home of the Memphis Tigers. Each team will play two games in the Memphis bracket and the team that wins both games will get a trip to New York City to play in final four of the 2k Sports College Hoops Classic on Nov. 15-16 at Madison Square Garden.
The other three brackets will be played at Connecticut, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
John Calipari's Memphis Tigers were picked by ESPN's Andy Katz as the preseason No. 1 team in the country.
After playing the two games in Memphis, the Spiders return home to host Norfolk State on Nov. 10 in the Robins Center.
