VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:
Richmond improves to 14-0 under head coach Dave Clawson when scoring 30 or more points in a game.
The No. 25 Spiders are 6-1 at home when playing as a ranked team in the Clawson Era.
Dave Clawson won his 50th career game as a head coach and his 21st at Richmond.
Richmond has scored 45 points or more in three consecutive games for the first time in school history. The Spiders tacked 49 on Northeastern (49-14), 45 on Bucknell (45-14) and 45 against No. 11 New Hampshire (45-38).
Senior RB Tim Hightower has surpassed the 100-yard mark in three consecutive games as well, after running for 168 yards on 22 carries against New Hampshire. He had 246 at Northeastern and a school-record 295 at Bucknell.
Freshman Justin Rogers set a school record with 222 yards in kickoff returns. He took two kicks 85 and 84 yards, respectively, with the 85-yarder going for his second kickoff return for touchdown this season. He is averaging 39.7 yards per return this year.
Rogers' two kickoff returns for touchdown this season set a school record, while tying the Spiders' single-season mark.
Hightower has scored 12 touchdowns in the last three games for Richmond and has 13 on the season. He ran for three and caught one against the Wildcats. The senior is Richmond's leading scorer with 78 points and is one touchdown shy of matching the total for his career entering the season (14).
Now with 12 on the season, Hightower is two rushing touchdowns away from breaking the Spiders' single-season record of 13 held by Uly Scott (1992), Greg Grooms (1984) and Bart Smith (1973).
Hightower is three rushing TD's away from setting the Spiders' career record of 29 held by Uly Scott. Hightower enters the Towson game next weekend with 26 career scores on the ground.
Sophomore QB Eric Ward was 25-for-35 passing with 217 yards and a touchdown, collecting 200-yards in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. He has three 200-yard games as a Spider.
Freshman WR Kevin Grayson hauled in 10 catches for 111 yards, becoming the Spiders' first back-to-back 100-yard receiver since senior Arman Shields tacked 106 yards on Delaware and 147 yards on Hofstra in 2005. Grayson collected 118 yards at Bucknell.
With five sacks, the Richmond defense posted its highest single-game total since the 2005 NCAA Playoffs when the Spiders sacked Hampton five times in a 38-10 victory. Bryan DeMoss, Pierre Turner and Martin Parker each led the way with a sack each.
Three of Richmond's five sacks came on UNH's final series as the Wildcats were driving for the game-tying TD. DeMoss and Parker Miles dropped Santos for a loss on first down and DeMoss and Stephen Howell sacked him for a five yard loss on second down. Parker's sack pinned Santos back another four yards, setting up Santos' desperation toss to the end zone on fourth down that was broken up by Andrew Harris.
Sophomore K Andrew Howard drilled three of his four field goals (38, 20, 33) and remained perfect in his career in extra points. Howard has now converted a school-record 53-consecutive PATs.
