AUDIO: Hightower's four touchdowns
Richmond's 642 yards of offense and 443 rushing yards are new single-game records. The previous records were 585 yards of total offense (versus James Madison, 9/12/92) and 430 yards rushing (versus Villanova, 10/28/00).
Four of the Spiders' 10 highest total-offense games have come since 2005.
The 49 points are the most scored by the Spiders' in a conference game since 1987. That year, Richmond edged Massachusetts 52-51 in a double overtime shootout.
Each of Hightower's last two single-game rushing career-highs have come against the Huskies. He collected 149 yards on the ground in last season's 12-7 win at UR Stadium versus NU for his previous career-best before today.
Both Hightower's 246 yards rushing and his four rushing TDs are the second-best single-game performance in Richmond history. The 246 ties Cordell Roane (versus Hofstra, 11/3/01) and trails the 280 NFL first-round draft choice Barry Redden posted versus Penn (11/26/81).
Hightower is the only Spider on the school's top-10 single-game rushing list to accomplish the feat on less than 20 carries (19). His career average per carry is an impressive 5.1 yards.
Hightower now has 2,107 yards rushing with 19 career touchdowns. He currently stands ninth in career rushing yards and seventh in touchdowns at Richmond.
With four rushing TDs, Hightower ties six other Spiders for the second-most in a game. Jimmie Miles (versus William & Mary, 11/21/98) and Henry Dohrman (versus Lynchburg, 10/20/28) each rushed for five in a game.
The Spiders had been shutout in their last two visits to Parsons Field before today. Richmond was blanked 7-0 in 2001 and 45-0 in 2003.
Sophomore kicker Andrew Howard was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts today, extending his streak of consecutive made PATs to 43, setting a new Richmond record. The old record was 39.
The Spiders are now 12-0 under head coach Dave Clawson in winning games when scoring 30 points or more.
This marks the ninth time that the Spiders have followed a loss with a win under head coach Dave Clawson.
