THE TEAM

This was Richmond's first win over a ranked opponent since Jan. 24, 2004 when the Spiders won at No. 10 Kansas. Richmond has now won 17 games against ranked opponents. The 17-point margin was the largest win over a ranked opponent for the Spiders and just the third time Richmond has defeated a ranked team by double-figures.

This was the Spiders first win over a ranked opponent in the Robins Center since Dec. 1, 1990, when Richmond defeated No. 14 ranked Georgia Tech 73-71. This was just Richmond's sixth win over a ranked opponent in the 36-year history of the Robins Center and the first by double figures.

Richmond has won six of the last eight games overall and five of the last six at home. This was Richmond's third-straight win over the Flyers in the Robins Center, the last two coming under head coach Chris Mooney. Richmond has won four of the last six between the two teams in the Robins Center.

The Spiders, who are second in the conference and 28th nationally in steals per game, had 10 steals against Dayton, marking the fifth time in the last six games that Richmond had double-digit steals. It was ninth time in 18 games that the Spiders have grabbed double-figure steals. Richmond is averaging 9.3 per game and has at least six steals in every game.

Richmond scored a season-high 80 points and its 46 first-half points were a season-high. It was also the most points scored in a half against Dayton this season. Richmond's season-high for points in a half is 50 in the second half against St. Bonaventure on Jan. 16.

The Spiders out-rebounded Dayton 30-25, the second time in the last three games that Richmond has out-rebounded its opponent. It was just the fifth time this season that Richmond won the battle of the boards.

Richmond forced Dayton into 16 turnovers, marking the sixth-straight game the Spiders have forced over 15 turnovers. The Spiders have forced at least 12 turnovers in every game this season.

Richmond shot 61.5 percent from three (8-of-13) in the first half, a season-high for three-point percentage in a half for the Spiders. The Spiders made 11 three-pointers, the fourth time this season Richmond has reached double-digits for threes.

This was just the fourth time in 18 games that the Spiders' top-two leading scorers Dan Geriot and David Gonzalvez scored in double-figures, but it was the second-straight game for the tandem.

THE PLAYERS

Sophomore David Gonzalvez scored 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 6-of-8 from behind the arc. It was the fourth 20-point game of the season for Gonzalvez, including the second-straight. He has reached double-figures 20 times in his career and eight times this season. This was the second time this season Gonzalvez has made at least six three-pointers, having made seven against William & Mary on Nov. 28. Gonzalvez is shooting 46.3 percent from behind the arc (38-of-82). He has made three or more three-pointers in six games this season, including the last two.

Sophomore Dan Geriot had 19 points for the 32nd double-figure scoring game of his career and the 13th this season. Geriot has reached double-figures in five-straight games, seven of the last eight and eight of the last 10. He is averaging 19.8 points through five conference games. He made all six of his free throws on the night, marking the eighth time this season he has made all of his free throws.

Junior Jarhon Giddings had nine points, his second-highest scoring total of the season, behind an 11-point effort against then No. 3 ranked Memphis. Giddings made two three-pointers on the night, the second time this season he has made multiple threes in a game.

Freshman Kevin Smith had nine points on 3-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals. Smith has made 25 of his last 31 field goals (.806). He is shooting 62 percent from the floor this season.

Sophomore Ryan Butler had six assists, four steals and five rebounds to go with five points.

Freshman point guard Kevin Anderson had nine points, and three assists in a team-high 36 minutes.
