University of Richmond, Va. -
A goal in the 66th minute was enough for the Bilikens to hold on, as they defeated the Spiders 1-0 Sunday afternoon at First Market Stadium. The loss dropped Richmond to 9-6-1 (3-5-0), while St. Louis improved to 8-3-4 (4-2-1).
The lone goal of the game was scored at the 66:13 mark by junior Julia Brandenburg, when she sent the ball past Richmond keeper Andrea Young off a cross pass from Megan Yossi.
"We committed everything to getting wins this weekend but we didn't," said head coach Peter Albright. "We're disappointed because we expected to be in a better position than we are."
Richmond edged St. Louis in shots, 11-10. Freshman Emily Dale led the Spiders with three shots.
The Spiders return to action Friday when the George Washington Colonials come to town. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
Live coverage, including game tracker and free video streaming on SpiderTV, will be available for the game.
