FORT MYERS, Fla. - Bradley broke out of a shooting slump to make 52.1 percent of its shots in an 80-66 victory over Richmond on Wednesday night in the two teams final game of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
Bradley entered the game shooting just 38 percent from the field and the program known for its three-point marksmanship under head coach Jim Les was connecting on just 22.9 percent from behind the arc.
Against the Spiders, Bradley (3-2) connected on 52.1 percent of its shots (25-of-48) and 46.7 percent of its threes (7-of-15). Dodie Dunson and Chris Roberts led a balanced attack with 13 points apiece. Theron Wilson and Sam Maniscalco each had 12 points.
"Our defense has got to get better," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "They hadn't been shooting the ball well and they definitely did tonight, but we have to get better on the defensive end."
Richmond sophomore guard Kevin Anderson scored a career-high 24 points, making a career-high nine field goals. He also dished out three assists and had two steals in 39 minutes. Junior guard David Gonzalvez had 16 points and four assists in 36 minutes.
The Spiders lost start Kevin Smith to a leg injury just eight minutes into the game and did not return. The Spiders also battled foul trouble most of the evening as both Justin Harper and Conor Smith fouled out and Jarhon Giddings had four fouls.
Conor Smith scored a career-high nine points, making a career-high three treys. Harper and Josh Duinker each had six points. Duinker grabbed five boards and had two assists.
The Spiders (3-2) return home to host Coppin State on Sunday night at 7 p.m. in the Robins Center.
