
Spiders Sweep La Salle To Move On At A-10's

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Richmond women's tennis team swept La Salle, 5-0 in the first match of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships held in Pittsburgh, Pa. The third-seed Spiders move on to the second round later today Friday, April 18 as they take on the winner of No. 6 Rhode Island and No. 11 Dayton at 6 p.m. ET.
Richmond earned a win in the only doubles match that was able to finish as its no. 2 duo, Erin Clark and Xenia Schneider dominated La Salle's Martha Kutteh and Katie Drapcho, 8-0.
In singles action, three Richmond players held their competition scoreless. Ashlee Vosters, the Spiders no. 3 contender, took down Kutteh, 6-0, 4-0 while Kelly Tidwell and Schneider both swept their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.
No. 6 Rhode Island and No. 11 Dayton will face off later today to decide who will move on to face the No. 3 Spiders in the next round of championship action.
