Utley Tied For Fourth; Spiders In Fifth Heading To Final Round Of Atlantic 10 Championship

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - Senior Jordan Utley carded a 3-under-par 69 to lead the fifth-place Richmond men's golf team to 2-over-par 290 Saturday in the second round of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship.
The third and final round of the Atlantic 10 Championship will be played Sunday at Orange County National Golf Club with the Spiders teeing off at 8:50 a.m.
Richmond took over sole possession of fifth place at 7-over-par 583, two shots behind fourth-place Xavier. Charlotte has a commanding lead as the No. 5 nationally ranked 49ers look for their third-straight Atlantic 10 title. Dayton is in second place at 4-under and Rhode Island is in third at 3-under.
"We played better today, but we will need a big day on Sunday if we want to climb to where we want to be," Richmond head coach Adam Decker. "Jordan played had another great round and he's put himself in good position heading into the last day."
Utley is tied for fourth at 5-under-par 139, three shots of the lead and two shots out of second place. He had shot a 2-under 70 and now has nine sub-par rounds on the season. Utley was at 1-under through 11 holes before posting his only bogey of the day on the par-4 12th. After a par on the 13th hole, Utley birdied three of his last five holes to finish with a 69 on the par-72, 6,882-yard Panther Lake Course.
Charlotte's Jonas Enander Hedin is the leader in the clubhouse at 8-under 136, while Dayton's Rob Chappell and Charlotte's Corey Nagey are tied for second at 7-under 137.
Richmond sophomore Robert Lindstrom had five birdies on his way to a 2-under 70 that moved him into a tie for 16th place. Lindstrom had shot a 76 in the opening round.
Junior Tim Courtney shot a 75 Saturday and is tied for 24th at 3-over 147. He had shot even-par 72 in the first round Friday. Senior Billy Hanes shot an 80 Saturday after an opening-round 75 to drop into a tie for 45th at 11-over 155. Junior Grant Rafield followed an opening-round 80 to shoot a 4-over 76. He is tied for 47th at 12-over 156.
