Men's Golf In 12th After Second Round Of Rutherford Intercollegiate

FARMINGTON, Pa. - The Richmond men's golf team struggled on the second day of Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate shooting a 28-over 316 to drop into 12th place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Richmond was tied for fifth entering the second round, after carding a 303 on Sunday, but the Spiders had three rounds in the 80s on Monday.
"We had a rough go of things out there today," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "We just need to go out there and finish the tournament strong tomorrow."
Richmond junior Grant Rafield led the Spiders on Monday with a 4-over 76 on the par-72, 7,269-yard Mystic Rock Course at Nemacolin Woods. Rafield is tied for 13th at 7-over 151 with Richmond senior Lawrence Lessing. After shooting a 1-over 73 on Sunday, Lessing had a 5-over 78 on Monday.
Senior Tim Courtney is tied for 47th at 14-over 158. Courtney shot a 77 in the first round and an 81 on Monday. Sophomore Sam Beach is tied for 51st at 15-over 159 (78-81) and junior Robert Lindstrom is tied for 60th at 164 (81-83).
The third and final round of the Rutherford Intercollegiate will be played Tuesday morning.
