
Gray Finishes Cougar Classic At 5-Over-Par

HANAHAN, S.C. - Sophomore Christina Gray shot a 1-over-par 73 for the second-straight day to finish in a tie for 28th at the College of Charleston's Cougar Classic, completed Tuesday at Yeamans Hall.
Playing against some of the top golfers in the country, Gray finished the tournament at 5-over-par 221 (75-73-73) on the par-72, 6,159-yard course. Gray has a scoring average of 73.2 through her first five rounds of the 2008-09 season.
"Christina is off to an unbelievable start to the season," Richmond head coach Leighann Albaugh said. "She worked hard over the summer and her play in the first two tournaments is definitely showing that."
Gray was named the CAA Women's Golf Player of the Week last week after finishing second at the Towson Invitational. She shot a school-record 69 in the second round of that tournament.
The Spiders finished in 22nd at the Cougar Classic with a 942. Richmond shot a 310 in the first round, 315 in the second and 317 in the third.
Junior Anne Sprick finished 93rd at 238 (77-81-80), junior Lauren Folgosa took 98th at 240 (77-82-81) and sophomore Jillian Fraccola tied for 104th at 246 (81-79-86). Junior Victoria Kidder finished 112th at 259 (86-90-83).
The Spiders return to action Sept. 27-28 at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
