University of Richmond, Va. -
Richmond was ranked eighth in the Mid-Atlantic Region according to the latest issue of Soccer Buzz Magazine. The magazine conducts weekly polls throughout the nation according to region. The Spiders bested regional foes JMU, Virginia Tech and VCU in the latest polls. The Spiders were also ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic region by the NSCAA.
The Spiders, who are an even 1-1 in conference play, have won four of their last five matches. The team prepares for the University of Rhode Island Rams (4-6-1) on Friday.
"Rhode Island is a really interesting matchup," head coach Peter Albright said. "They came off a three game stretch where they scored 13 goals, and then lost two conference games to start A-10 play. URI is a very balanced team with a strong attack. I expect them to be a very tough opponent."
The Spiders host Rhode Island Friday night at First Market Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
