UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Each week a player from the Richmond women's soccer team is featured as the Spider Spotlight Player of the Week. This week's Spider is sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Young. Young took some time to answer a few questions about herself and her time at Richmond.
Why did you decide to play soccer at the University of Richmond?
I fell in love with the campus and the players on my first visit here.
What are your career goals?
Own my own physical therapy clinic.
Who is your role model?
My mom, who is one of the strongest people I know, and my older brother, who I have looked up to since I was really little.
If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go?
Outer Banks, North Carolina
What has been your most memorable moment at Richmond thus far?
Shutting out JMU 3-0 at their home field.
If I had to sing karaoke, what tune would you belt out?
Hold my hand by Akon and Michael Jackson.
What did you do over the summer?
Worked at a soccer camp, played soccer, and ran/worked out.
What is your favorite part of the game? What do you love to do as a player?
The best part about soccer is when I step on the field for practice or a game everything else goes away. No matter what is going on in my life outside of soccer I forget it all when I am on the field.
Who is your best friend on the team, and why?
The whole team gets along unusually well, especially our sophomore class.
What is your goal as a UR soccer player?
Win the A-10 tournament
