UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team plays at Rhode Island at 5 p.m. in a key contest that would help its chances at a berth in the A-10 Tournament.
The Spiders are currently tied for sixth with La Salle at 4-4-1 in conference play for 13 points. Richmond would secure the sixth spot in the A-10 Tournament by a head-to-head default because of a 2-1 victory over La Salle earlier in the season if both teams won their weekend games.
"This is a crucial weekend for our A-10 Tournament aspirations," said head coach Peter Albright. "We control our fate with regard to qualification. We have two tough opponents, on the road, between us and our goal of making the A-10s. I expect a great effort and commitment from the Spiders this weekend. I believe this challenge will bring out the very best in our team."
Richmond concludes its regular season Sunday at UMass at 11:00 a.m.
