UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team (7-5-1, 3-1-0) travels to George Washington Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. The Spiders, winners of three straight, are looking for their second straight victory over the Colonials.
Richmond is coming off a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph's last Sunday. Freshman Shondel Archer netted her team-leading seventh goal in the win.
"GW is a very tough team and a worthy opponent," said head coach Peter Albright. "We have always had good games with the Colonials. This is a game that will have big A-10 tournament qualification implications for both teams, and it is seen as crucial for both teams. I expect a spirited match.
George Washington is coming off a 2-1 victory over Temple last Sunday. The Colonials are 4-4-4 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play.
"We have played well recently (5-1-1 in the last seven games) and I think that we are finally finding our identity and style," said Albright. "I hope to build on that as we move through the tough A-10 Conference schedule."
The Spiders continue their A-10 road slate next weekend at Charlotte and Saint Louis.
