Anderson Named Atlantic 10 Player Of The Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Kevin Anderson was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points in two Spider victories last week.
Anderson, who was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week six times last season and was the conference's Rookie of the Year, is earning his first Player of the Week honor. Anderson joins Justin Harper as the second Spider sophomore to earn Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors this season.
The Duluth, Ga. native scored a career-high 28 points on a career-best 12 field goals in a win over La Salle on Wednesday. He followed that up with a team-high 19 points in the win over Charlotte on Saturday. Anderson also grabbed six rebounds against Charlotte.
Anderson has scored in double-figures in 35 of his last 37 games and has at least 19 points in the last three games.
Anderson is second on the team and eighth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 15.5 points per game. He is ninth in the league in field goal percentage (.471), eighth in steals (1.48) and third in minutes played (36.07).
The Spiders have won two-straight and three of the last four to improve to 14-13 overall and 6-6 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond plays at Fordham on Wednesday and returns home to face George Washington on Saturday.
