Spiders Edged Out Of A-10 Quarters By Dayton, 69-64

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Sophomore Kevin Anderson scored 24 points, but Richmond lost to Dayton 69-64 on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Boardwalk Hall.
Dayton's largest lead of the game was nine points at 53-44 with 8:39 remaining. The Spiders went on a 9-1 capped by an Anderson three-pointer to pull within one with 6:33 left.
Dayton's Marcus Johnson made consecutive three-pointers as the Flyers (26-6) answered with an 8-1 run to push the lead back to eight with 2:34 to play and the Spiders would not get within five the rest of the way.
Anderson had his fourth-straight 20-point game and his sixth in the last nine games. He averaged 23.0 points and 4.0 assists in two games in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Richmond junior Ryan Butler scored 13 points for his second-straight game in double-figures. Butler averaged 11.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in two games of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Senior Jarhon Giddings and junior David Gonzalvez had seven points apiece, while sophomore Kevin Smith had six points.
Johnson led the Flyers with 15 points, Luke Fabrizius had 11 points and Chris Johnson tallied 10 for the Flyers, who will play Duquesne in a semifinal game Friday night.
The Spiders will wait to see if they earn a postseason bid for the second-straight season. Last year Richmond played in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational.
