Men's Tennis Splits Weekend Play

The Richmond men's tennis team (1-2) downed Presbyterian 4-2 early Saturday but fell to host Davidson 4-1 later in the afternoon. The Spiders return to action Feb. 4th at North Carolina.
MATCH #1 -- Richmond vs. Presbyterian
"This match was a battle," said head coach Billy Boykin. "Coming in to this, we knew Presbyterian had a solid team and we really had to work from top to bottom to come out on top in this one. AJ Nelson and Jesse Feder gave us some great momentum by closing out the doubles point at number one doubles."

"Davidson came out firing away and took the doubles point in decisive fashion," said Boykin. "To our credit, we came out and gave them all they could handle in singles play. We were right in the hunt in every singles match, but couldn't find a way to win the big points at the end. The lone winner for us against Davidson, freshman Sebastien Fauchet, played great tennis at the number one spot taking his match in three tight sets."
