RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond men's tennis senior Davis Wiley has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Wiley led Richmond with a perfect weekend at the top of the lineup, going undefeated in completed matches while competing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles. He opened the week with a strong 6-3, 6-2 win over Delaware's Tobey Lock in the Spiders' lone point of the match, while also teaming with Cole Brashear for a 6-4 doubles victory at the top spot.
Wiley carried that momentum into Saturday's 6-1 win over Georgetown, delivering a dominant 6-0, 6-3 singles victory against Arthur O'Sullivan and pairing with Brashear for another 6-4 doubles win to help secure the doubles point. His performances at the top of the lineup guided Richmond to a bounce-back victory and a 1-1 week.
Wiley improves to 10-3 in singles play this spring, including a perfect 2-0 mark at the No. 1 position during the week. In doubles, the duo of Wiley and Brashear moves to 10-3 on the season.
The honor marks Wiley's sixth career Atlantic 10 Player of the Week selection, and third-straight weekly honor.
Richmond returns to action March 30 vs UNCG before playing host to William & Mary on April 2 and Morgan State on April 3 at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.
