UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team continues its road action with a game against La Salle Friday at 7 p.m. The Spiders visit Fordham Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Spiders split last weekend, with a 1-0 overtime victory over Saint Louis and a 1-0 loss to Charlotte on Sunday. Sarah Schuerich scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Becca Wann 30 seconds into overtime for the Spiders' thrilling win over the Billikens Friday night. Four of Richmond's first five conference games have gone into the extra period, with the Spiders walking away with two of those victories. Richmond has played six total overtime games.
Wann continues to lead the Spiders in goals (7), points (15) and shots (53). Wann is only 13 shots shy of cracking Richmond's top-5 list for shots in a single season. Wann tops the league in shots per game (4.82) and is third in points per game (1.36). Wann is tied for sixth in goals scored (7) and second with game-winning tallies (3).
Richmond posted a 2-1 win over La Salle last September with Shondel Archer and Natalie LeClair both notching goals. Melissa Pacheco had 11 saves in the net. The Spiders dropped a 3-0 decision to Fordham to kick-off conference action last season.
The Spiders own a 6-2 advantage in the series over La Salle and a 5-2-1 edge in the Fordham match-up.
Richmond is currently in sixth place in the A-10 standings with a 2-2-1 mark for seven points. Both La Salle and Fordham are tied for 12th place. The top six teams advance to this year's A-10 Tournament in Kingston, R.I. Nov. 4-7.
