UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team will host Duquesne Friday for senior night, as it honors seniors Carter Blair and Kristen Schmitt. The Spiders welcome St. Bonaventure to Ukrop Park Sunday.
The Spiders dropped two games last weekend at La Salle and Fordham. Shondel Archer scored her first goal of the season in Richmond's 2-1 loss to the Explorers. Richmond battled Fordham last Sunday, but fell 1-0 in overtime. Four of Richmond's first five conference games have gone into the extra period, with the Spiders walking away with two of those victories. Richmond has played six total overtime games.
Wann continues to lead the Spiders in goals (7), points (15) and shots (58). Wann is only eight shots shy of cracking Richmond's top-5 list for shots in a single season and is second in the league in shots per game (4.46).
Richmond fell to both Duquesne and St. Bonaventure by 1-0 decisions last October. The Spiders outshot the Dukes, 15-12 but were edged by a goal in the 63rd minute. Richmond battled St. Bonaventure to a double overtime finish, but a Bonnie golden goal in the 106th minute lifted Bona over the Spiders.
Richmond is 4-4 in the series with Duquesne and owns a slight edge, 5-4, in the series with the Bonnies.
Friday's game is set for 7:00 p.m. with seniors Carter Blair and Kristen Schmitt being honored before the game. Sunday's kick is slated for 1:00 p.m.
