UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Junior Emily Dale and freshman Becca Wann each recorded tallies as Richmond downed St. Bonaventure, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Ukrop Park in its season finale.
Despite two quality wins this weekend, the Spiders failed to advance to the A-10 Tournament next week because of head-to-head competition with Fordham and La Salle, who both won on Sunday.
Dale's laser of a shot took a lucky bounce off the post and into the goal for the game's first goal in the 25th minute. Dale received a nicely placed cross pass from Jensen Smith to record her first tally of the 2010 season.
St. Bonaventure would counter in the 43rd minute when a ball on the left side of field was passed into right portion of the box where it was converted into a score.
Both the Bonnies and Spiders recorded eight shots apiece in the first half, but the game felt to be in Richmond's advantage after much play was deep in the Bonnies territory.
Emily Dale was headed into the goal at the 54 minute mark.
The strong back line of Richmond kept the Bonnie attack at bay for the rest of the game.
Wann led Richmond with four shots, to total 70 on the year which puts her in the top-5 for shots in a single season.
Richmond outcornered St. Bonaventure by a 4-2 count and Melissa Pacheco had another strong performance in goal with a game-high nine saves.
