THE TEAM
Richmond improved to 61-38 in season openers as it opened its 99th season. The Spiders are 52-11 in the season opener when it is also the home opener and Chris Mooney improved to 6-0 in season openers.
Richmond is the 35-12 since Feb 18, 2009.
The Spiders held The Citadel to 37 points, the lowest point total for a Richmond opponent since Saint Louis managed just 36 points on Jan. 30, 2010.
Richmond had 21 assists, eight steals and just eight turnovers.
THE PLAYERS
Senior Justin Harper scored 18 points for his ninth double-figure scoring game in the last 11 contests dating back to last season. Harper tied a career high with four three-pointers. He has 814 career points and 106 career three-pointers.
Richmond senior Kevin Anderson scored six points, just the sixth time in the last 83 games that he has not scored in double-figures, but four of those six games were Spider routs of 19 or more. Anderson has 1,558 points, which ranks eighth on Richmond all-time scoring list, 66 points out of seventh.
Senior Dan Geriot scored seven points, giving him 1,044 for his career, which passed Danny Higgins for 34th on Richmond's all-time scoring list. Geriot needs 15 points to tie Scott Stapleton for 33rd.
