THE TEAM
The Spiders held Southern to nine first-half points, the fewest points allowed in a half by Richmond in the modern era.
Freshman Derrick Williams became the ninth Spider to score in double-figures this season and 11 players scored against Southern.
Richmond improved to 4-0 at home and the Spiders have won 21 of the last 22 games in the Robins Center, including the last nine.
Richmond shot 51.7 percent from the field, the fourth time in as many home games that the Spiders have shot over 50 percent from the field. The Spiders are shooting 54.1 percent from the field through five games.
The Spiders made 31 field goals, the third time in five games that Richmond has made at least 30 field goals. Richmond has at least 27 field goals in all five games.
Richmond had 20 assists against Charleston Southern and is averaging 17.8 assists per game this season.
The Spiders had seven steals and are averaging 8.2 steals per game this season.
Richmond had 11 turnovers against Southern and is averaging 11.0 turnovers per game.
THE PLAYERS
Freshman Derrick Williams scored a career-high 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 1-of-1 from behind the arc. Williams is 7-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from three this season. He also grabbed five rebounds and had one assist.
Senior Kevin Anderson scored 11 points for his 88th double-figure scoring game, including his 81st in the last 87 games. Anderson made his 100th-consecutive start on Tuesday. He now has 1,622 career points, just eight points from tying Curtis Blair for sixth on Richmond's all-time career list.
Senior Dan Geriot scored nine points to give him 1,085 points for his career, two points behind Picot Frazier (1967-70) for 30th and 12 points behind Rodney Rice (1985-88) for 29th.
Freshman Cedrick Lindsay had five assists giving him 15 assists against just four turnovers through his first five collegiate games. Lindsay is averaging 9.0 ppints per game and shooting 61.3 percent from the field (19-of-31).
Sophomore Darien Brothers scored seven points, making 3-of-5 shots and dishing out three assists. Brothers has made 9-of-11 field goals over the last two games.
Senior Justin Harper scored eight points in just 12 minutes of action.
