NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
Freshman phenom Kristin Lescalleet earned second team honors.
Fresh off a Rookie of the Week honor, Wann was tabbed Rookie of the Year after leading all Richmond players in shots (70), points (21) and goals (10) following her first season with the Spiders. She tied for second in the A-10 with four game-winning goals and her 70 shots ranks fifth for shots in a single season. Wann is the first student-athlete from Richmond to garner the league's top Rookie honor.
Wann, known for her knack to be around the goal at the right time, often headed in her tallies and recorded a team-best four game-winning scores. Wann earned Player of the week and Rookie of the week honors this season.
Lescalleet, the anchor of the Spiders' back line, grabbed second team honors for her consistent play all season. Four of Richmond's seven wins were shutouts, due in large part to Lescalleet sturdy defense. Lescalleet was known for thwarting many of the opponents' opportunity to score. This is the first award for Lescalleet who returned from an injury last season.
Richmond went 2-0 in its last weekend of the season, with quality wins over Duquesne and St. Bonaventure. The Spiders return all but two players to next year's lineup.
