The Team:
Richmond recorded a season-best 17 assists and Kara Powell recorded a season-high with five assists.
Richmond recorded a season-high 44 rebounds, eclipsing the previous season-best 43 boards set in the Spiders' season-opening win at Western Carolina.
The Spiders moved to 51-36 all-time versus the Rams and have won three straight and 11 of the last 12 meetings.
Head coach Michael Shafer improved to 5-1 against the Capital City foe.
VCU is the first of four straight CAA opponents the Spiders face this season. Richmond has winning records in every series but Old Dominion.
The Players:
Abby Oliver recorded a season-best 22 points off 7-for-11 shooting from the field. The 4-of-6 long range production by Oliver tied a career-high previously set at GW Feb. 26.
Oliver's eight boards marked a career-high, beating out the seven boards she pulled down against Duquense Feb. 1.
Brittani Shells recorded double-figures for the seventh game this season, 87th of her career with 13 tallies against VCU.
Shells moved into fourth place on Richmond's all-time scoring list, eclipsing Laurie Governor with 1,656 points. Governor played from 1984-1988 for the Spiders.
Crystal Goring recorded a season-high 14 points, marking the fourth game in double-figures for her in the 2010-11 season, 20th of her career. Goring went a season-best 7-for-9 from the field.
